Although Palma de Mallorca is a large city, modern and open to the world today has surprised me a sound he thought was no longer heard the streets long ago. This is the familiar melody with his harmonica playing the character of the now forgotten "sharpener" that has long walked the streets of our towns and cities. Without realizing it, I felt transported to my childhood, when it was common to hear the melody, when the smell of freshly baked bread warned of the arrival of the baker, who ran his car with the town's streets offering basic food.
And is that even though we are modernizing rapidly, there are still plenty of detail and ancestral customs that make a place retains the charm of yesterday.
In Spain there are still villages in which the baker, the milkman or the fishmonger for instance, through the streets warning of their arrival to the neighbors come and offer their precious products.
Is there an unexpected place in which you felt surprised by a charming custom detail or ancient? Is there a particular sound or smell that you remember with particular fondness?
Share with us those details.
