
Today I received a mail titled "rice fields" and to open it I found some curious photos of drawings in what appeared to be rice fields.
I have started to investigate on google, and I've come to the blog of Kirai (A geek in Japan) that explain more of the subject. Between them and the Wikipedia, I could find out:
It seems that the best in the art of drawing in the rice fields, are the inhabitants of a town called Inakadate , located in the plains of central Aomori.

Inakadate economy depends largely on agriculture and orticultura, especially rice.
The effect is achieved essentially the same system used to draw pictures with flowers of different colors in some western parks and gardens, only they used to draw different "types of rice."
In the following photos you can see the process and follow the evolution of the rice fields to achieve the desired pattern.
