Carnival in Venice: Festa delle Marie.

The famous Carnival of Venice, was for centuries a way out of town to escape the excessive control that was subjected by the Venetian GOVERNMENT. However, the Venetian carnival reached its peak in the S. Century, when noble arrived from very different places mingled with the populace to enjoy the event. Since then the masks are the most representative and most important Venetian carnival.
