Christmas 2010 is just around the corner and the towns and villages dress up for it.
All travelers who visit Madrid during this time, they can enjoy from November 26 to create the magical atmosphere of Christmas lights as they stroll through typical markets, make purchases or enjoy a toasty roasted chestnuts.
This year (and never better) Madrid Christmas lights are hot, as the city has five new designs that come from the hand of designer Hannibal Laguna cone or Purification Garcia.
As of December 23 the Christmas lights remain on:
• Monday to Wednesday (inclusive) of 18 to 22 hours.
• Thursday and Sunday between 18 and 23 hours.
• Friday and Saturday between 18 and 24 hours.
Between December 24 and January 6, hours will be from 18 to 23 hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays.
The holidays and eve of public holiday schedule is as follows:
• 23 and December 30: 18 to 24 hours.
• 24 (Christmas Eve) and December 31 (New Year): 18 to 6 hours.
• December 25 (Christmas) and January 1st (New Year): 18 to 24 hours.
• January 5 (the eve of Epiphany and riding): 18 to 3 hours.
• January 6 (Epiphany): 18 to 23 hours.
If you want to enjoy the Christmas decoration of the city of Madrid without getting cold, you can do so from the Christmas Bus, a double-decker bus from which you can enjoy for 1 € of Christmas lights comfortably seated.
The tour this year is as follows: Serrano (Plaza de Colón), Serrano, Independence Square (Puerta de Alcala), Alcala, Plaza de Cibeles, Alcala, Gran Via, Plaza del Callao, Jacometrezo, Plaza de Santo Domingo, San Bernardo, Gran Vía, Alcalá, Plaza de Cibeles, Alcala, Plaza de la Independencia (Alcala Gate), Velázquez, José Ortega y Gasset, and Serrano.
