Sant Martí lights in the cathedral of Palma de Mallorca.
Friday, September 23, 2011The Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca has won over the centuries various titles, including the "Cathedral of Light" because the typical Mediterranean clearly falls squarely on it through their windows and a series of light phenomena occurring inside. The light of Mallorca for years has attracted thousands of visitors and La Seu cathedral or Palma has earned the title of "Cathedral of Light".
Since its construction, chain and November 11 each on Feb. 2, takes place from 7:30 am, a curious phenomenon where the sun rising from the sea goes down the rosette higher (over 11 meters in diameter) and causes it to reflect on the opposite wall, reaching around 8 in the morning just below the other rose to form an "eight of light."
In the distant 14th century a host of math and geography made it possible year after year, without error, produce this and other lighting effects that amaze all who visit the Gothic cathedral.
On another occasion, I will discuss what happens in the winter solstice, but for now I hope you enjoy the video:
